Spring 2021

I am super excited to have  “Staying Warm” featured in the April 2021 issue of  Ann Kullberg’s Color Magazine!   It’s hard to believe it was just a year ago that I just finished working on this piece. Such an honour to have been asked to have my art included alongside the beautiful work of so many amazing international artists in this well put together  American publication of the work of coloured pencil artists from all over the world!

Winter 2020

This winter I tried acrylic painting after a 30ish year break. I completed 2 paintings. The first was a commission on an agate and the second was on canvas.

I am so pleased how they turned out!  Lots of fun and lots more learning ahead!

Fall 2020

Exciting!!! “Ozzy” was chosen as one of 100 finalists in the Artists Network “2020 Artistic Excellence Competition”.   The competition was open to artists anywhere in the world working in traditional media. This is quite an honour for me as this is my first competition I have entered that is open to such diverse media.

My pastel portrait “Ozzy’” was entered in the Animal/ Wildlife category where “Any animal in any setting is fair game for this category. Entries will be judged on the innovative handling of the subject, the expression and rendering.” Thank you to the juror of this category, wildlife artist Greg Beecham, for recognizing my portrait.

I look forward to seeing the Artist Magazine Dec 2020 issue with the top 3 winners’ work featured in it. Congratulations to the winners and other finalists.  Thank you to Artists Network for offering this opportunity and to the many jurors and volunteers that made this competition a reality.

Summer 2020

I am so very honoured to have “Staying Warm” juried into the 28th Annual Colored Pencil Society of America’s International Exhibition! This has been extra special for me in that it is the first ever art exhibition I have entered. It was pretty exciting news to receive on Canada Day.

Thank you to CPSA’s juror Chris Valle for choosing “Staying Warm” as one of 126 works accepted out of almost 800 international entries. It was a wonderful surprise to learn about and celebrate on Canada Day.  I am so very proud have my work included among so many amazing artists and to be one of three Canadians representing Canada.

Thank you to all the folks at CPSA who made this event possible. Congratulations to all the artists who had work accepted.

A BIG Thank You to my dear husband who is my biggest supporter, always encouraging me and helping me challenge myself to learn and grow and for letting me use him as my subject for this piece. Without him, I would not have returned to Art at the end of 2019 after a very long break.
